ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Dr. Johnson is an Air Force Veteran, instructor pilot, and drone expert with a PhD in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (UW). He pioneered aviation research and education at UW by building a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Center of Excellence for aviation research as well as UW's growing flight-training program. Johnson has built drone programs for dozens of entities including Wisconsin Aviation, UW-Madison, UW-Oshkosh, Fortune-500 and Global-100 companies, and he founded PilotTrainingSystem.com to grow the pilot population for both manned and unmanned aircraft. Dr. Johnson is an FAA Safety Team Lead Representative and a key member of the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft Safety Team, leading safety enhancements involving rogue drone operations and drone incidents and accidents, and he is the Founding President of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Advisory Board, which is a public-private organization of UAS experts serving as a unified voice for advocacy, networking, education, and outreach in support of UAS.
